Joel M. Greenberg
Joel Greenberg is a member of
Addis Greenberg & Schultz, L.L.C. Mr.
Greenberg is a litigation specialist, performing trial work in
areas regarding surety and fidelity bonds, criminal defense, construction
law, insurance fraud and personal injury. Mr. Greenberg's criminal practice includes representation of clients charged with felonies, DUI, misdemeanors, traffic and ordinance violations.
As a seasoned litigator,
Mr. Greenberg came to the firm in 1994 from The Law Offices of
Sherwin Greenberg, where he defended general negligence, premise
liability and Structural Work Act cases.
From 1975
to 1991, Mr. Greenberg served as First Chair Trial Assistant with
the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, where he prosecuted
major felonies. With the Special Prosecutions Bureau, he was responsible
for investigating, indicting, and prosecuting complex financial
crimes. He litigated more than 50 felony jury trials and
in excess of 500 bench trials while serving as a Deputy Chief
of the Second Municipal District of the Criminal Prosecutions
Bureau. Additionally, as a member of the Civil Actions Bureau,
he represented Cook County elected officials and conducted litigation
in Federal District Court and the Circuit Court of Cook County.
Mr. Greenberg holds
appointments as an instructor for the National Institute for Trial
Advocacy and as a Supervising Attorney for students involved in
the Illinois Institute of Technology's Chicago-Kent College of
Law Extern Program. Mr. Greenberg received his Juris Doctor
from the Illinois Institute of Technology Chicago-Kent College
of Law after graduating from St. Louis University with a B.A.
He is licensed to practice before the Illinois Supreme Court,
the United States District Court for the Northern District of
Illinois and the Federal Trial Bar.
Mr. Greenberg is a
member of the American Bar
Association's Tort and Insurance Practice Section and Criminal
Justice Section, Illinois State Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association,
National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Chicago Surety
Claims Association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association (Former Co-Chairperson of the Criminal Law Committee and Member of the Judicial Screening Committee), the
Lake County Bar Association, and the North Suburban Bar Association.
